These short chapter books are high-interest readers, the perfect transition from picture books to text-based books! These books are exactly what my 3rd grade students need! Over half of my students are reading below grade level, because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The schools in Nevada shut down for two months in the Spring of 2020. When we were able to return to school in the fall, students could only attend in-person for two days a week. Because of this, my student's reading skills, fluency, and comprehension have taken a downward spiral. My students will love these books, because they will help them become confident readers. When students are confident readers, they become lifelong and adept readers! The NACS's that are related to my project are: ELA RL 3.7-3.10 & ELA RI 3.7-3.10.
