My students have recently become interested in the "I Survived" series of books. My students will engage with their group members as they read and research their natural disaster. My students are more engaged when they are given the opportunity to choose the material that is being read. My students will be given the option to choose the book that is most interesting to them, then they will write an informational essay describing the events that took place during the natural disaster. I have seen that positive impact that these books can have on my students wanting to read, and I hope that this will give them the opportunity to grove even more!
