These books will be used to teach many of the state RELA standards such as understanding conflict, character development, and the theme of a specific story. Providing my students with a greater book selection will help engage them and get them excited about reading in my class! Research shows students who read independently become better readers, score higher on achievement tests in all subject areas, and have greater content knowledge than those who do not. Students are better prepared to succeed in other subject areas as they grow as readers. Many of these titles were requested by my students.
