COVID-19 has changed the world of teaching. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it necessary to supplement the Special Education Curriculum. With the use of this touchscreen laptop, I will be able to let my students participate in digital activities without being frustrated. My students with autism like to participate in digital activities such as Nearpod, iReady, Jamboard, and Boom cards. Using a touchscreen laptop, my students can navigate the device without the help of the teacher or the other. This project follows the Nevada Academic Curriculum Standards; (RF.K.1), and demonstrate an understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes) (RF.K.2), CVC using Jamboard I will put the letters, and the student, will drag the letters together to make it a word. My students are having difficulties in writing so it is easier for them to drag the letters on the screen to participate rather than being frustrated due to difficulty in navigating the Chromebook or using the pencil. Also, doing addition number problems, relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2) (1.OA.C.5). I use Jamboard to put the number chart on the screen so that the students have a guide that when its addition they will point the number and hop going to the right and it makes a mark on the screen. Through this touchscreen laptop, the student will be given visual representation and independently participate in the lesson.
