My students do not come to school with the materials that they need due to financial constraints. 80% of my students qualify for free and reduced meals. I give them notebooks for their Interactive Chemistry notebooks at the beginning of the year. I give out at least a dozen pencils daily to students. I provide the school materials they need to stay organized and learn chemistry. I have learned that everything needs to stay in the classroom because once it leaves, it does not come back. Many of my students have family responsibilities after school which limit their ability to complete schoolwork after the school day has ended. By creating interactive notebooks, my students do not lose papers, which is extremely beneficial since these students are also learning English in addition to chemistry.
