Now more than ever, students are having a hard time adjusting to the old norms of what we as teachers expected out of them behavior wise, but the truth is, that we cannot turn back. My students are in need of finding ways that work for them when it comes to doing work. By having the alternative seating and the rugs, this would allow my students to release energy when sitting down at their desks. The rugs would allow them to lay down in the library corner I have set up in my room. I am all about allowing my students work in an environment they are comfortable in. COVID-19 affected my students in many ways, but meeting my students where they are at is a priority for me. Books, books, and more books is what I tell my students will get them to the places they want to be. The books I am trying to get my students go over a series of topics that have become relevant to go over in todays time. Some of those topics covering diversity in experiences, abilities, families, feelings, and history. The students love and trust that the books I chose have a deeper reasoning as to why I choose them and are always asking me for more recommendations, so the two bookshelves I am trying to get them will highlight books I recommend.
