Covid kept students home for over a year. Students did not have access to hands on concrete learning materials. Students benefit from having concrete objects they can manipulate and physically see move and transform into the math concepts they are learning. The fraction tiles will help my students to see the relationship between equivalent fractions and how fractions are parts of a whole. The base ten blocks will help my students understand adding and subtracting with regrouping. They will be able to change the hundreds, tens, and ones and see the relationship the hundreds, tens, and ones have when adding and subtracting. Hands on manipulatives will give my students the opportunity to grow from concrete to abstract representations of math concepts.
