Small group instruction is an effective way to target students' specific deficits and needs. These resources will provide students with a positive, comfortable, and focus oriented (flexible seating helps students' attentiveness), instructional environment. My focus will be on nonfiction and realistic fiction reading materials to support the following standards: R.I.1.1. and R.I.2.1 (ask and answer questions) and R.I.1.2 and R.I.2.2 (main idea). These standards are critical and foundational for the rest of the standards and my goal is to build mastery for students within small groups. Focusing on these skills in a small group setting will help students feel success within their own learning and motivate them to continue to make academic growth, which in turn will support their emotional wellbeing!
