Learning English requires students to be proficient in four language domains: reading, speaking, listening and writing. By having a computer device in their home will allow them to practice and develop these four language domains. They will be able to improve their literacy and fluency in both reading and mathematics. They can access different computer applications like Lexia, and Raz-Kids to help develop their reading skills. Programs like Dreambox, I-Ready, and Reflex will strengthen their math skills and knowledge. Students currently have access to these computer applications at school, but by having a computer device in their home, they will be able to access these programs after school hours and on the weekends to improve their knowledge of the English language. Having a Chromebook at home will allow them to log on and read one of the hundreds of Raz-kids books which are developmentally appropriate for students to listen, practice reading, and recording themselves reading the books to me. They can complete speaking prompts at home using the program flip grid. Additionally, they can read grade level texts at home using the google program Snap and Read where the text is read automatically to them so they do not need to spend their time decoding the text but can focus on comprehending the material. Through my Google classroom, they will be able to write responses to questions I ask them about their reading. These students want to be respectable contributing members of society when they grow up. Please consider donating to this project, so I can enhance their educational knowledge of English to help them become literate, so they can become independent and successful in their lives. Thank you for considering my project.
