This group of third graders ended their year of first grade virtually and had a less than normal second-grade year. My goal for this year is to help fill in some gaps with the fluency of math facts in all operations, letter sounds and vowel combinations, and recognition of high-frequency words. This addresses all of the Operations and Algebraic Thinking standards because of the emphasis on math facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to solve problems. It also hits the RF.3.3 and RF.3.4 working on specific decoding skills to help accuracy and reading comprehension. Taking it back to basic flashcards in reading and math will solidify their foundational skills so they can read more complex texts and solve multistep problems.
