Each student will receive a journal and a pen to simply write about their life and what is going on in their daily life. They will also receive a snack to take home to have the energy to journal a bit! Coming from Pontiac, MI, many of these students have come from unfortunate backgrounds and simply lack the resources they've needed to succeed. They also often lack guidance in their life and people to talk to when things are rough. That's why I am beginning this project to provide them with the opportunity to speak out on what they're going through and ask for advice if they need it. This was inspired by the movie "Freedom Writers" - I thought it would be an incredible project to implement into my class.
