My students often come to school hungry. They frequently do not know where their next meal will come from. Sadly, hunger can impact students’ school performance. Research has shown that students from families who are not sure where their next meal may come from are more likely to have lower math scores and repeat a grade. This is of even greater concern for all of my students with special needs. By providing students with snacks throughout the school day, this could alleviate the stress they are experiencing due to hunger. Thereby, giving them the tools they need to be the most successful version of themselves.

About my class
