We have created this project in hopes of building a sensory-friendly classroom. This will help our students react more positively, as well as, help them to be more engaged in academic activities. It makes learning fun and/or calming for them!! Most of my students are nonverbal and/or have limited verbal skills. It is often difficult for them to communicate their needs. We hope by creating a classroom that is more sensory-friendly that we can boost their engagement and academic performance. We are teaching a variety of skills that range from developmental skills like holding a pencil and writing, to self-help and social/emotional skills.
