Students who just don't fit. Students who are outside the box. Students who fell through the cracks. Students who have more than their share of burdens to bear. Students who are bright, energetic and in need of opportunities to express their creativity! Those are my students. Ours is a small, rural alternative education high school where we serve students for whom the regular high school just doesn't work. Our primary focus in the past has been credit recovery in core subjects, with a goal of making sure our students graduate on time. We have direct instruction classes in English and Math (that's my main focus), with other core classes via an online program. We have also been working to add electives to provide some enrichment experiences for our students. This year, I began teaching an art class on a shoestring budget since September 6, $275 for a class of 24 plus purchases I have made myself
