My Newcomer class is using online language learning programs like Rosetta Stone and Lexia. To be able to use these programs successfully, the students need good headphones with microphones. Because my students must speak and repeat in order for their success. Due to Hurricane Ida, my class had major loss of technology and I am trying to replace those items which are most critical to their success, in the NEWCOMER ESL class. My students are ready, willing and able to learn, they just need these items in the class in order to be successful with their studies. Another important device that is very helpful for my students is an electronic dictionary. This translator device will be a big help to them when they do their assignments. A text translated into their language will make a big difference in their learning. They will be less frustrated and will be more successful overall.
