These materials will help make a difference in each and every one of my students lives. The past 2 years have been rough socially for students. Majority were learning at home for at least half a year and then only in school for half of the time last year. Social skills have been affected and students are feeling defeated with the rigorous standards. We have worked really hard to get students up to standard academically... we should also have a strong focus on their social and emotional learning. These books and materials will help students believe in themselves! There is so much potential in my classroom! Many Nevada State Academic Standards would be used in this project. ELA-LITERACY.RL.3.1Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. These books will allow for my students to the opportunity to ask and answer meaningful questions with text evidence. These books with aid in another standard, ELA-LITERACY.RL.3.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text. Students will be able to learn a lesson and apply it to their everyday lives when reading these books. Students will also be able to identify with and describe characters in these books: ELA-LITERACY.RL.3.3 Describe characters in a story and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events. After reading the books, students would be able to collaboratively create meaningful projects in a Literacy Center that could be presented, taken home, and used in everyday situations. The projects would be able to saved and used multiple times when they are done completed. ELA-LITERACY.SL.3.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions
