As a result of the COVID pandemic, our students have missed the opportunity to be in a structure Educational setting. The result of this is a loss in self regulation skills, a need for more tactile interaction with the curriculum and a need for socialization skills. Each item selected is designed to give the students an interactive approach to mastering the curriculum expectations and decrease the effects of loss in academic social structures. Starting with the anxiety chairs and stress toys. As mentioned earlier, all of my students suffer with ADHD and modifying their seating will allow them ability to self regulate through confined movement. But will helping acquire or regain the ability to stay seated for extended periods of time. We would like to continue to incorporate more anxiety toys and mental stimulants to increase their focus and help to develop coping skills as the students re-enter the traditional school setting. With this last year the student's have spent a large amount of time utilizing computer based instruction, which limited those students requiring tactile instructional practices. In which case, I have starting incorporating more interactive instructional games. This method of interactive learning has proven to be an excellent teaching strategy for students with ADHD. Each game and instructional resource selected is intended to address an areas of deficiency, increase the students' ability to appropriately socialize, develop higher order thinking skills, and will be use as an alternative method of assessing progress-- plus the kids love them.
