Understanding geometry without manipulatives can be challenging. By using folding geometric shapes, my students will have a concrete visual of the nets of geometric shapes which help them in finding the surface area of prisms, cylinders and pyramids. A focus in my math class is to read about how math makes a difference in today's world. The Scholastic Math magazine subscription will provide real world examples of how math is used to figure out real world problems. No matter the grade level most of my students struggle with fraction concepts. The fraction tower cubes will be used to help my students explore and compare fractions.
