Instructing through distance learning was a challenge many faced; however, being a learner on the other end was a much more challenging task. Stamina was lost, motor function skills weren't used consistently, and students now need all materials of their own, without sharing with the class in prevention of spreading germs. Due to being unable to share materials, I'm requesting classroom supplies such as scissors, more books for my classroom library, more manipulatives for my students to learn hands-on, and storage for each of these items. One of my largest desires is the wobble chairs. My students would greatly benefit from having the opportunity to move and fidget while seated. It will not only help their focus, but their behavior, balance, and posture. By providing a larger classroom library, I'll have a variety of books that targets each student's interests and aligns with their academic level. This will encourage them to read with purpose and have a larger understanding, which aligns with one of our Nevada Content Standards for ELA, RF.2.4a. Each of these items I have selected has a designated purpose and home in my classroom. While picking out items for my list that I wish to be donated, I strategically selected based off they layout and availability of my classroom and students. I know where the students will use these items, when they will use them, how they will use them, and how they will access them. I believe each of these items will benefit my classroom and help my students grow into stronger learners who will be even more motivated to succeed. I hope that by being able to offer my students greater resources, and choices, that they will have an even larger desire to continue their growth for years to come.
