To build a love of reading is the most precious gift we can bestow on our students. This gift enables students access to the world, escaping to faraway places through nonfiction text and becoming best friends with the main character of fiction fantasy. COVID has significantly impacted my students readiness and desire to read. They have had limited access to quality text, thus making them hesitant readers. Through this project, students will have continual access to quality informational text and literature. They will engage in deep discourse focused on ELA RL.2.1, RL.2.2, and RL.2.3 in literature, as well as ELA RI.2.1, RI.2.2, and RI2.3 in informational text. Students will learn how to identify key details within text that strengthens their understanding of character development in relation to plot, as well as main idea of specific topics.
