This book will give my students the opportunity to read their own personal novel. It will inspire my students to read and ignite in them a joy for reading. They will get the opportunity to read a story in its entirety. They will get the opportunity to keep the book in their possession, take it home, and reread it! This book will inspire not only an enthusiasm for reading but an opportunity for my students to experience characters that look like them, and that deal with relatable subjects, surrounding family dynamics, growing up and basketball. A variety of enhancing activities can come from this novel especially surrounding poetry, the metaphor of basketball, graphic novels discussion. Books matter and seeing characters that look like you in books is always beneficial.
