With tools such as magnetic letters, and phonemic awareness games such as sound sorts, my students will be able to make a physical connection to their phonics instruction. My students have never had a normal year in the classroom, and these manipulatives will allow them to grow as readers and spellers. My students are noticeably more engaged in instruction when they can move around and touch the parts of the words. We have been doing the best we can making do with whiteboards and playdough, however there is something special about actually touching the letters. The products that I selected will help reach my students regardless of what level they are at. They will help beginning readers who are just now accessing what letters are, and they will help more advanced readers who are learning about word patterns of all types. I am confident that with these tools my students will be able to reach their fullest potential and be the super readers and spellers I know they are!
