Materials I chose will provide incentives, learning materials and activities to encourage academic and social emotional learning. Children who are struggling to adjust back to school after COVID will have activities to help them cool down and learn to cope with their emotions. Books, activities and games give them time to refocus so that they are ready to return to the classroom in the right frame of mind. Also, allowing children to enjoy hands on activities such as building can encourage communication and provide opportunity for teaching which might not be achieved in a "talking session". Some of my items will also support struggling readers. Many students who were learning at home during Covid are behind and need hands on and evidenced based materials to encourage learning. The academic materials I chose will support special needs learners in their classrooms and/or at home.
