These books will help with equity and diversity and foster a better classroom climate by having books with main characters that better mirror my classroom's make-up. Not only will the students be able to see themselves in the stories, but the different reading levels will better support my students as well. As I have several grade levels and reading abilities and limited time, using books that cover social studies, history, and geography standards as well as ELA will give my students more bang for their buck! Also using these titles students can access these books from the public library as well to support at home learning.
