I am looking for materials that will support literacy in our classroom. Expanding our classroom library with multiple levels of fiction and nonfiction reading materials is key. The best way to become better at something is to practice it often. The availability of a larger selection of books will provide a greater range of ability levels, as well as a variety of genres to allow students more choices and ultimately encourage a higher level of reading enjoyment. Housing these books in an easily accessible way will also be helpful. Students will self-select books according to their interests and will feel successful as they grow as readers. Finding new and creative ways to assist my students to improve their reading skills and closing gaps is the focus of my project.
