More than 50% of the students that attend this high school come from low-income households making it difficult for their parents/guardians to purchase classroom materials. By purchasing this calculators you would be reducing the financial burden these families have. Additionally, students that attend this high school have a low mathematical fluency. By incorporating calculators in my science classroom students would gain additional exposure to mathematical concepts, while practicing real world science calculations. For instance, during our enzyme lab, students had to calculate the reaction rate of different pH solutions. Since scientist are constantly having to collect and analyze data calculators are an essential part of the science classroom.
