The skills I will teach my students are not just for the here and now, but skills that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. One of the goals is for the students to follow a recipe step-by-step. Students will use the right equipment for the right job in the kitchen. This equipment will include measuring cups and spoons, basting and slotted spoons, sauce pots and pans, and baking sheets. The main objective is to use the knowledge acquired throughout the course of this project to prepare a complete family meal. Safety and sanitation are just as important as recipes and kitchen equipment. For that reason, aprons and hair nets must always be worn in the kitchen. In addition, knives should be handled properly and oven mitts and pot holders should be used when handling equipment on the stove and in the oven.
