Many young adults struggle to express their emotions and lack appropriate coping skills that help them manage challenging emotions and situations. I would like to increase social and emotional awareness and capacity in my students through creative exploration. I would like to give them sketchpads, journals, and other art supplies to help them learn to process emotions in a creative manner. The ability to work through challenging emotions is a lifelong skill necessary to healthy development. Offering these creative supplies to students will help them learn introspective exploration which not only supports themselves but offers them a greater capacity to understand others emotions and challenges, increases empathy, and creates healthy social interaction.

About my class
