Students who are able to find a safe place to spend their lunch time with others is valuable for their overall mental health. The opportunity to produce a craft in a social and emotional supported environment supports their outlook towards their own skills and abilities while belonging to the school environment. The students that come to my club are struggling socially and need an outlet. The beading activity gives them time to relax and be themselves. I have noticed a change in their demeanor at school since beginning the club. They are happy to come to school on the days they know they get to be together and make jewelry.

About my class
