Our Michigan class will be learning about the sun, moon and stars! The students are growing to become great readers and with the solar system books the students will become immersed in the topic. It's important for students to read non-fiction books as well as fiction to open their minds to different ideas. I believe that these books will build their curiosity and reading skills! By learning in the classroom, I want the students to be able to go home and discuss what they learned in the classroom based on what they see outside in the night sky!
Hands-on learning after distance learning!
Furthermore, being able to read about it and then actually do it is how I learn best and it is what I want to bring to my students. After reading about the solar system, the students will be able to use play-doh to recreate what they learned! With the play-doh the students will be able to do hands on activities to mold the different phases of the moon! This will support those students that do well with kinesthetic learning! We have multiple books and videos, but being able to do hands-on activities will help me support all types of learners!
We have missed a lot and we have a lot to do still! With my project, I hope to bring my students multiple outlets to do things they will enjoy in school.
