Being a Music and Theater instructor in a K-8 school is one of the most rewarding yet challenging jobs I have had. Teaching such a wide range of age groups and developmental levels requires a variety of resources and materials that most classroom teachers do not necessarily need. The materials I am requesting will help to ensure the students across multiple classes obtain the tools they require to succeed. Covid has adversely affected the availability and funding for special area classes such as Music, Theater, and Art. These material are necessary materials that have been neglected due to Covid related budgetary concerns. Most of the budget has been spent on cleaning and contact tracing supplies. No, Music, Theater, and Art are not represented on statewide testing and are often overlooked when it comes to priority, however I firmly believe that an education in the arts is just as important as ELA and Math. I appreciate your funding the essential material to help my students succeed. Thank you.
