Students will have a space where they can comfortably sit when focusing on calendar math, sight words, morning meeting, and some mini-lessons. It will also teach students about their respected space and to keep their hands and feet to themselves. It transitions them from sitting at their desk and gives a little movement break which encourages their learning. This carpet will be used during reading stations where groups will have the chance to work together in an open space. Students will partner read on the rug and discuss their reading.
