Many of our students have histories of long-term severe bullying, and some of our other students, particularly those around the 5th-7th grade range bully each other. It is my hope that by acquiring some helpful illustrated books related to bullying which would help them process some of the more difficult emotions they have to process as victims of bullying, as well as teach them the skills to stop their peers from bullying other people, and identify some of the reasons why bullies themselves may choose to act the way they do. In addition to this, younger students at the Kansas TLC often have trouble identifying and processing their emotions. Many of the current students seem to respond well with visual learning, and I believe a good series of books about different emotions with vibrant and interesting illustrations would be perfect for helping them to understand and identify their own emotions.
