These materials will make a difference in my students learning because it is allowing my students to access sensory materials that assist with learning, regulation, on-task behavior and coping strategies with emotions. Besides the sensory materials (such as fidgets, stress balls, noise reduction headphones) there are items being requested to assist in teaching social interactions via environment setup and modifications. With an environment in the classroom that mocks a more relaxed social setting, students can practice social skills and leisure skills. This area will also assist in coping and regulation to emotions. As students learn more appropriate ways to cope with emotions, their participation in learning opportunities and social opportunities increases.
