The Nevada Academic Content Standard fulfilled by this project will be the 2nd grade ELA writing standards W.2.1 Write opinion pieces, W.2.2, Write informative/explanatory W.2.3 Write narratives. One issue I have noticed with our elementary students during these COVID times, is the reluctance to collaborate, problem solve, and stretch their own thinking. Research shows how important it is to prepare students for embracing the challenges of the future; while also acknowledging and addressing the current challenges of daily life. The materials I am requesting will help my students develop their writing skills. They will be able to manipulate sentences, listen to themselves read their stories, and have flexible seating options so they have choice on where to sit while they work. They will also get to take home their very own bound published books. We will be able to bind learning materials such as anchor charts and other writing notes that they can refer back to during their writing time.
