The students are a bit behind from last year's hybrid/distant learning. Students working on individual whiteboards allows me to see their work and give immediate feedback on their progress, specifically in solving and graphing linear equations. The goal is to have whiteboards with both a blank side (for solving equations) and a coordinate grid side (for graphing equations and functions). Having pens and erasers in ready supply makes using the boards easier. In 8th grade math, the curriculum has a large focus on solving equations and graphing linear equations. Some of the standards that will be addressed while using the boards are NAC Math 8.F.B.4, 8.EE.B.6, 8.EE.C.7 and 8.EE.C.8. I also teach Algebra 1, which also has a lot of graphing and solving of equations. Some of the many standards are HSF.IF.C.7, HSF.LE.A.2, HSA.CED.A.1 – 3, HSA.REI.C.6, and HSA.REI.B.3.
