These books will be well loved in our classroom for years to come. I strive to make our classroom library a place were students can relax while they enjoy a good book. The books that are placed in there are treated with love and care. Our library is well loved - equipped with cushions, reading buddies, and carpet space to spread out, it's the perfect spot for learning and independent reading. Every book that was selected was picked with all of my readers in mind - students new to the English language, struggling readers, and readers that haven't found a just-right-for them book. The best way to become a reader is to read, and these books will pique my students' interest, giving them the freedom to choose books that interest them at their level. My students are eager to learn and read, and this project will only fuel the fire of knowledge each and everyone of them has. These books align with the following reading standards: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.3.A Identify and know the meaning of the most common prefixes and derivational suffixes. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.3.B Decode words with common Latin suffixes. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.3.C Decode multisyllable words. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.3.D Read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.4.A Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.4.B Read grade-level prose and poetry orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on successive readings. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3.4.C Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary.
