Instilling a love of reading at an early age is the key to lifelong learning. In fact, children who value books are more motivated to read on their own and will likely continue to hold that value for the rest of their lives. Reading also helps children make sense of the world around them and build social-emotional skills and their imaginations. It also exposes the kids to other styles, voices, and genres of writing. By having a variety of books in my classroom, it will peak the interest of my students and they will be more willing to read. To sum it up – reading is the backbone of their learning.

About my class
