The world is a better place when there is creativity happening. In a classroom with minimal art supplies, these pens, pastels, paints, tools, drying rack, etc, will give students the ability to dive in and get creative. As a school with limited resources, by getting these supplies students will use them to create art inspired by their studies of Jean Michel Basquiat, Romero Britto, Jaune Quick to See Smith, Faith Ringgold, and many more artists. Students will also practice techniques like printmaking while studying Delita Martin. What constitutes a print, and what are some basic methods to create a print? The students will utilize basic carving techniques to create a relief surface printing stamp. The students will administer basic inking techniques to create a multi-color print. The students will select a subject for a styrofoam print and create a drawing of it. The students will transfer it to their styrofoam and practice carving techniques. The student will implement practice techniques and create multicolored prints. From there they will practice drawing portraits on the printed material and finally adding some stitched paper to finalize the masterpiece. The piece will be a product of their expression of their own identity, from the choices they made. The Art helps people say what they can't speak. Art helps people process and unpack complex thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Life is better when people are being creative. "Art speaks where words are unable to explain" -Threadless Artist Mathiole. Your donation will open doors for 361 students to create high quality works, to express themselves, to practice working through failure, to release their creativity, and to be seen. A million thanks.
