I have exposed my students to enriching read alouds during my Book-A-Day challenge. However, those books are mainly in English, and our library and public library does not have many Spanish books available. Having bilingual books will help me connect to their stories, be inspired, and see the endless possibilities of being a writer and/or an illustrator. In addition, I will be exposing my students to the many Mexican-American authors. My newcomers will also be able to see the relationship of their native language to English words and feel that I am also thinking of them when reading aloud!

About my class
