Books will support a language and literacy-rich environment in the speech room. We can incorporate reading and print awareness, phonemic/phonological awareness skills, morphology, semantics, syntax, and language concepts into therapy by using books. These materials specifically support ELA academic content standards for students at the elementary level. A utility cart will ensure that there is storage for these books and other materials.
These hands-on materials like the mystery box or busy book and games like Guess Who can be seamlessly integrated into speech sound and language-based therapy activities and will be engaging and reinforcing for students and increase their personal investment in speech therapy.
Lysol wipes will be used to meet our elevated need for frequent sanitization of therapy materials and furniture within the therapy room. An air purifier will maximize air cleanliness and quality for all students in the speech room, to ensure that students have a clean and sanitary learning environment. In addition, office supplies will allow me to print personalized therapy materials in color, laminate, and velcro materials that meet the individual needs of students on my caseload. Finally, a shredder will help to ensure that as a educator, I am properly disposing of any files with student information.
