In band, our students are learning not only how to play a musical instrument for the first time but they are also learning how to read musical notation. Depending on which instrument the student picks will determine some differences in what notes they are reading on the music page. It is helpful when we can provide a foundation of music theory using music books and materials to assist the students in learning how to read their music notes. These same books and materials will also give our students multiple opportunities to play basic/easy songs on their instruments to help reinforce specific skills. With this project, I am also asking to supply my clarinet and saxophone students with a great supply of reeds for their instruments. Without a reed, these instruments would never make a sound. Reeds are becoming increasingly expensive for our students to provide themselves and boy are they easy to break when not being used carefully!!! I'm hoping to supply our students with an adequate number of reeds to sustain them through the coming months in the band.
