These sewing machines will be used to teach students how to machine sew. As they grow more comfortable and confident on the sewing machines, they will take on more advanced projects- from hand warmers to bitty bags for costume accessories to completing full costumes, students will learn skills that they can use after graduation. Hands-on learning is key to student success. These machines will take their education to the next level as they create patterns and work with their peers to overcome the surprising challenges that sewing and costuming can sometimes present. The ultimate goal of costume construction will lead students to think mathematically and work through three-dimensional puzzles. Their final products will be featured in class and on stage as fully functioning reflections of their skills.
