All of my students are enrolled in distance learning and primarily this is because their parents are concerned about them contracting the COVID-19 virus. Students need additional resources at home to help them achieve math and reading proficiency. Parents want to support their children and these materials provide learning opportunities and additional practice to improve students' academic proficiency. Approximately two-thirds of these third-graders were below average achievement at the beginning of third grade based on their MAP assessment math and reading scores. The composition notebook and sight words flashcards support the knowledge of language in writing, speaking, reading, and listening, along with vocabulary acquisition and use (L.3.3a - Choose words and phrases for effect.) The math flashcards support the standards for number and operations in base ten (3.NBT), measurement and data (3.MD), and operations and algebraic thinking (3.OA). Developing an understanding of multiplication and division strategies of whole numbers is one of the critical areas for third grade.
