The texts I selected for this project will assist my students in meeting Nevada Academic Content Standards. Specifically, students in grades K-2 will be focused on RLK. 2, retell familiar stories, including key details and RLK.3, identify characters, setting, and major events in a story. In grades 3-5, students will begin to explore informational texts with a focus on women in science. Not only will they be encouraged and motivated to pursue careers in the field, they will work toward mastery of RI.3.3, describe the relationship between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text. Your generosity will be appreciated and support our students in mastery of critical literacy skills.
