Introducing flexible seating in my classroom will allow my students to wobble, rock, bounce, and lean which will increase oxygen flow to the brain and help build core strength. Children need to move and this project will help young minds stay more alert and focused. Asking a group of 5 year olds to sit for many hours a day is not natural for them. In addition to brain breaks, flexible seating will get the students moving throughout the day. With Covid, most of my students did not get the benefit of preschool, so this is their first experience having to sit for long periods. They need to work on gross motor skills as well as the fine motor skills associated with the kindergarten Nevada Academic Content Standards. .
