The materials I have chosen for my students will allow for independent learning centers for students at various academic levels. I do Circle, Seat, Centers which allows me to work with small groups, supply independent centers and seat work to reinforce and practice skills being taught during Circle Time.. I do Circle, Seat Centers every day which allows me to work with small groups of students at their levels . Circle, Seat, Centers are run on a rotation system. While I am working with one small group (Circle), the other students will be working on learning centers (Centers) such as; short/long vowel word building, comprehension stories/questions; sight words and sentence writing; spelling; math skills, etc.) to practice skills being taught. The opportunity to for students to complete sentence writing, reading/writing comprehension, spelling (Seat) allows them to practice skills taught during circle time as well. Circle, Seat, Center time allows me to work with students every day in a small group setting focusing on their individual needs while students continue practicing skills they need to know that follow our Nevada State Standards for first grade.
