I am requesting movement tools, flexible seating, and fidgets to help my students stay focused on their education. Many of my students I work with have diagnoses of ADHD. It is very hard for them to release their energy productively. Along with this, many other students I work with are coming back from 13 months of online learning. Their stamina and ability to work for longer periods has been tough on them. One of my jobs as a special education teacher is to help students find strategies to break through barriers disabilities can cause. Students with a lot of energy are smart, creative, funny, and curious. They just need help harnessing their energy productively. By providing alternative seating and methods to release energy while working, I am not only showing them that their energy is not bad, it can actually be controlled by them and used in productive ways.
