The codable robots that I have requested will be used by kindergarteners through 4th grade students. It is a thrill for students to see how the directions (algorithm) they put together will actually manipulate the robot to do exactly what they tell it to do. Coding robots is fun, but it is also playing with purpose. There is a great deal of learning embedded in the coding challenges that both Bee Bots and the Code & Go Mouse robots provide. In addition to computer science, students can also be challenged in language arts/literacy activities by asking students to identify sounds, rhyming words, or even retell a story. In math, students can be asked to identify numbers, find patterns, or skip count given numbers. Even science and social studies activities are fun when students are asked to code their robot to follow an animals life cycle or take a "walk" through a habitat identifying various objects. The learning is unlimited but exciting!
