Having a picture book display will allow students to access the classroom materials more easily. My favorite picture books and my students favorite picture books will be readily available during independent reading time. A display will allow for students to be given an opportunity to look at both fiction and nonfiction text. Students will be able to see books from past and present units and reread some of their favorite books or look at nonfiction texts with beautiful photographs and interesting facts. If a struggling reader loves books on cars and needs to get excited to read, then those books can be on the display! It also allows for students to have an opportunity to read books they wouldn't normally read.
